The Gomoa West District was established by Legislative Instrument (LI) 1896 in July, 2008 with Apam as its District Capital. The district was part of former Gomoa district which was divided into Gomoa West and Gomoa East Districts in 2008. Size: The district covers a total land area of 514.2 square kilometres. Apam thc district capital is 68km from Cape Coast and 69km from Accra. There are 98 communities in the district.
